‘Face of a Giant’, the first single from The Electorate’s forthcoming 2025 album Suitcase Is My Head, is out now.

Face of a Giant’ is the new single from Gadigal/Sydney trio The Electorate (Eliot FishJoshua Morris & Nick Kennedy), and the first new music from them since their 2020 debut and 2SER feature album, You Don’t Have Time To Stay Lost, which received a 4.5 star review from Rolling Stone.

The members of The Electorate have all been part of the Australian music scene for a number of years, with ties to Big Heavy Stuff, Knievel, The Apartments, Imperial Broads and the Templebears. Invaluable experience that colours their sound and informs their astute musical choices.

‘Face of a Giant’ was recorded, mixed and co-produced by Wayne Connolly (Teskey Brothers, Underground Lovers, Hoodoo Gurus, Babe Rainbow) at Hercules St studios in Sydney, and mastered by Jason Mitchell (PJ Harvey, XTC, Dry Cleaning).

‘Face of a Giant’ is a hooky, metronomic and angular guitar groove, replete with a driving anthemic chorus that will have you leaning in or getting up on your feet.

There’s the post-punk mood and tension of band’s such as Interpol yet The Electorate expand and elevate that atmosphere with their undeniable rhythm section, the indie rock chime and swerve of the guitars and the rich melodic streak that runs through it all.

You can hear the ghosts of Gang of Four, DEVO + LCD Soundsystem, but only if you can stand still long enough.

This is about having an ethereal connection – an entwined synchronicity with someone that you can’t explain… either that or alien abduction,” says songwriter and bassist, Eliot Fish.

The song’s main riff, with my bass and Josh’s guitar pivoting on a simple octave came out of moment of weirdness in rehearsal and we almost wrote it entirely on the spot. It seemed to be beamed right to me and the words and melody fell out. Nick’s intensity with the drums sitting right in the pocket, shot it off into space.”

‘Face of a Giant’ is out now on Bandcamp, streaming services and Amrap for our community radio friends across Australia.
